Thanks, Rey. I hope one day society can move past the strict binaries it likes to impose. Until then, thank you for the reminder to practice what Terry Pratchett called "second thoughts" - recognising those first thoughts and snap judgements, in order to be more careful and deliberate in action. It's a work in progress, for me.
Rey, I see you, all of you, sugar pine you, and I am in awe at your quiet resilience. But I also know the deep pain of everything contained here, and (if you'll let me) I would like to hold it alongside you. I think this is perhaps the most significant thing a friend can do, and I want to be that kind of friend.
Thank you, Robin, from the bottom of my heart. I am grateful to have you as a friend.
You are right that there is a foundation of pain under all this, one that I have great difficulty expressing and have no idea how to write about. I appreciate your encouragement (although I doubt you meant it that way) to consider that I do have pain related to gender that I suppress most of the time.
It's a lot easier to heal in community. Thank you 🧡
100% relate to this and have been feeling so much about it lately. I needed to read this. Thank you for writing and sharing yourself with us. ❤️
Thank you so much, River. I am glad that this resonates! I feel less alone in that you have read my words and find it relatable. 🧡

Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts! I love the "second thoughts" phrasing. I also hope our society can move past the strict binaries.
