Regardless of how we vote as Americans, I think a lot of us feel the same things are important.
Children's safety. Protecting the environment. The cost of groceries. Living in a place where you feel your values are supported.
The presidential election is truly a toss-up. I strongly urge you to vote, not only for the president and vice president but for your representatives in Congress, your school board, your park commissioner, etc. These local races matter too and can be decided by very few votes.
I voted for Kamala Harris.
If you would like to know why this election matters so much to trans people, please read leading transgender journalist Erin Reed’s reasons she is endorsing Harris. Anti-trans legislation doesn't make anyone safer, on the contrary it makes me and my friends terrified, stressed, less able to access medical care, travel, or find work.
If you are considering not voting for Harris because her position on the Israel-Palestine war (calling for an immediate ceasefire) doesn't sufficiently support the Palestinian people, please remember that not voting for her is like half a vote for the other guy.
Earlier this year, Trump called for Israel to “finish the problem.” Trump is friends with Putin, admires dictators who conquer by force, and seems highly unlikely to work towards peace. Trump is so not pro-Palestine that I find it shocking anyone would protest on this issue by refusing to vote for Harris.
I believe we have a better chance for peace with Kamala Harris as president.
Let's please all do our part to make our voices known in this election.
If you are struggling to vote, even if it's just not being able to focus on the mail in ballot that's on your kitchen table, please send me a message and I am happy to help.
Take care,
Rey
I just voted. It was across the street from the playground and I took my nine-year-old autistic son in the booth. School board is very important too ! We had a first time voter in the room and everyone cheered. (,LA!)
I voted for Kamala. This election isn't a taxi ride from door to door, it's a bus route. You have to do some walking. There's no such thing as a perfect candidate, so we vote to get ourselves heading in the right direction.
