Ancient weather, creatures, and adventures in time. I’ve traveled from the youngest igneous rocks in California on Lassen Peak (around 100 years old) to sedimentary rocks in Utah (around 150 million years old).Sedimentary rocks are formed when sand or mud collects at the bottom of lakes and rivers and eventually compresses into rock. These kind of rocks cannot form in a desert. So when we see the sandstone worn away in arches and canyons in the dry heat, it’s a very different landscape today.
Thanks for reading! Many of the petroglyphs have shapes that are somewhat human but pretty abstract. That's what I was referring to by stylized humans.
Those photos are so cool!! I would love to visit a place with dinosaur tracks visible out in the landscape. It is crazy to me that they are approachable by anyone and not cordoned off in some way for preservation but I guess there's just too many out in the desert for that? Anyway it is really cool to imagine walking around where dinosaurs and our human ancestors walked around
Thanks very much, Lily! I am glad you liked the photos and reading about the dinosaur tracks! It is surprising that these sites are available to the public, but actually from what I've read some of the people trying to manage the sites have also damaged them. There aren't that many dinosaur tracks or fossils. They do stuff like scan them with cameras very carefully to have a record of the tracks and fossils. I'm both glad to get to experience the fossils in person and also a bit concerned that they are exposed to the general public like that. Completely agree.
Thanks for this story.

Yes Rey , I looked it up afterwards and realized I was just ignorant of what stylized humans meant. I love your broadcasts. Keep it up !
Thanks for your kind feedback!
