High five, Rey! Your linked article is outstanding! I'm already a big fan of your writing voice and your approach, but you've shown up in stellar fashion for the trans/nonbinary/queer community here, and I am simply bursting with pride to share this joy with you. Well done, friend!

Thank you for sharing your journey! It's a very good article and I shared it with friends.

I know this is not the point, but I noticed in your bio: martial arts as a second degree black belt in Kokikai Aikido. WOW! Also impressive! I'm a new reader of yours so perhaps you have addressed this before...have you written about your journey and the relationship of Aikido? I've taken boxing and karate classes. The sense of confidence and power that I felt during those classes was helpful on my journey.

Thanks so much for sharing, Christiana! I'm glad you liked the article.

I have written about gender and martial arts, because they are intertwined for me. I will write more about it, for sure. I'm glad you gained more confidence and power from boxing and karate, very cool!!

Thank you so much, Tao! I was just thinking that not having a lot of knowledge available about trans people growing up is probably a shared experience for everyone before the internet, not just in the 80s and 90s. I'm so glad you enjoyed the piece.

Great piece. I’ve read Schuyler’s book and found it interesting. I’m a mom of a trans teen btw. Knowing (by observing) that something is right is absolutely how I feel. Still hard to explain at times to friends. Enjoying your work on here 🙏🏻

Thanks so much, Jacqui! It's great you are a supportive mom to your trans teen. Yes, I feel like it's hard to explain to friends and family sometimes also. I appreciate you reaching out.

No problem. I’m working on a book at the moment about mine and other families experiences to try to close that gap.

Always appreciate your work, Rey. You do such a nice job of breaking down what can seem complicated and sharing those ideas as experiences to which we can all relate.

Thanks so much, Shayne! I do try to make things straightforward and relatable so I am very glad it seems that way.
